More than 30 years after the original Summicron-M 1:2/50mm, the Leica APO Summicron-M 1:2/50mm ASPH. is a completely new design. It is only slightly longer and heavier, with almost the same diameter, but offers significantly better image quality. This new lens features exceptional correction that minimizes aberrations, making them virtually unnoticeable in digital photography. Its key strengths include excellent contrast, even at full aperture, and a "floating element" for consistent performance, even in close-up shots.

Even at full aperture, the MTF curves show no edge fall-off. Additionally, fine details are captured with over 50% contrast, resulting in sharp images with excellent detail from corner to corner in all photographic conditions.

The lens’ apochromatic correction reduces chromatic aberration, ensuring a natural reproduction of every detail.
